Joan Caine, Sirius Advice

Joan Caine specializes in fundraising and nonprofit management counsel to a wide range of organizations. Her work combines a thorough knowledge of best practices in resource development with innovative approaches to capacity building. Prior to creating Sirius Advice in 2002, Joan served as director of development and capital campaign for IslandWood. The campaign’s goal of $26 million matched a gift from the founders, Paul and Debbi Brainerd, to create a residential educational facility on Bainbridge Island serving school children, teachers and families throughout Puget Sound.

Prior to working for IslandWood, Joan served in a variety of positions at the Henry Art Gallery from 1986 from 2000, including a year as acting director. During her 10 years as assistant director, her responsibilities included foundation, corporate and government fundraising.The Henry undertook a successful $25 million capital campaign from 1993 to 1997 to build a new wing of the museum.

Joan began her nonprofit career working at the National Endowment for the Arts as a Senior Program Specialist in the Theater Program from 1980 to 1986.
